Honduras in 2012!

We have the opportunity this year to help rebuild a church in Honduras! This is a church in the mountains called Esperanza Arriba. This vibrant and active church consists of about 50 adults and 40 children. Most of the people who live in the small community are all a part of the church. Recently, their adobe building collapsed due to poor quality of adobe and the climate. The church community had already raised $3000 themselves and they need our help to raise the additional $5000 to construct a new building. The people of the church can build the new church themselves, they just need the resources to get the supplies.

We are raising money through fundraisers but the main one we'd like to invite you to join in is a 5K on May 5th. To get more info on this, go to www.5k4change.blogspot.com.

Thanks for being a part of sharing the love of Jesus worldwide.

From milk cartons to walls

On Thursday afternoon, we suggested that it wouldn't take our framers very long to build wood walls onto their existing church building that currently has milk cartons for walls. They were excited about the possibility. We ordered the materials that afternnon and by Sat. morning had another building for them to use. It was so exciting. They will use it for the pastor's home and then for 2 classrooms once the new concrete building is finished. The foundation of the new building is almost completed and they hope to have it finished in the next 2 weeks. The foundation was the hardest and they will be able to finish the rest.

Answered prayers

It's hard to believe that our trip is coming to an end. Tomorrow, it will be very hard to say goodbye to the church family and community that we have come to love. Even though their needs are so great, their joy abounds. We have been able to do so much more than we imagined and yet the needs are overwhelming. We prayed last night for many of the needs we are aware of. As we went over our finances today, we realized that we have saved alot of money and have an excess that will allow us to meet many of the needs. We are so happy God has provided a way to do this.

There is so much to tell and little time to write. I'd love to post pictures but it always seems to take longer than it should and I am off to bed.

Tomorrow, we will go to church and then go on our tour day to a volcano and market. It will be our last full day.

More updates

Today was another full and amazing day. We actually changed where we are staying this morning to the guest house next door and it has some benefits. The biggest benefit for you guys is that we now have internet access. We will be able to post each day.
We had our 2nd day of VBS today. More kids just kept coming from the fields in all directions. By the end of VBS, the room was filled with kids everywhere and kids watching through the windows. We had almost 100 kids. They are so precious!

We got to show the Jesus Film!

Today we showed the Jesus film to the people of El Timal. The experience was absolutely amazing and heartwarming. Probably one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen. After the movie was over the pastor, Marline, started praying, everyone gathered around and set aside our diffrences. None of us could really understand what they were saying but it was just very touching. After we prayed i saw one of the boys of El Timal accepting Jesus, and that was so touching to me, just to be in the presence of new life.

Love,
Sarah
