Construction

Hi everyone.
Today turned out to be another excellent day. The people from El Timal finished up putting the concrete in the holes by the time we got there. They also had had some of the column forms set and filled. We helped them finish those.
They had us mix concrete in a way that is unique to us Americans. We dry mixed the gravel, sand and cement in a pile on the ground. Then we shaped the pile in similar to a volcano to create a hole for the water. We filled the hole with water and then starting on the outer edge of the pile shoveled the mix into crater of water.
We had a lot of piles of dirt from the holes so we spread that out in to the center of the building. It had a gum-like consistency that made it stick to the shovel and extremely difficult to move.
We moved a pile of sand via wheel barrows and pails maybe about 800 yards or so.
It has been neat getting to work along-side people from El Timal and getting to know them more on a personal level.
