amazing days

We have completed day 2 of work here in Nicaragua at El Timal. The experience here has been humbling to say the least. Everywhere we’ve traveled in the area is so very impoverished, with El Timal being one of the most severe. But even though the people here have almost nothing, you can clearly see their great love for God and for each other. From the first time we arrived in their village on Sunday to worship with them, to today, we have been received with warmth and acceptance. The children, numbering over 100, are so precious. It’s great to see the younger members of our group interact with them. The communication barrier is great, but slowly we are picking up words and phrases from each other. Just today an older gentleman of the village asked me to pour him a cup of water, just so he could say, “Thank you!” in English. He was beaming with pride!
We are so much looking forward to the days ahead. Tomorrow, after the day’s work, we plan to show the people of the village a film telling the story of Jesus. We’re praying that many will receive Christ, but even just one will be a reason to celebrate. Thursday there will be a softball game amongst our group and the people of the village! We’re excited to see all that God has in store for this trip, as well as the affect it will have on our church back in Hilliard, Ohio.
